Day 3

Travel to Cienaga Grande de Santa Marta, a lagoon system between the Caribbean Sea and the Sierra Neveda mountains. Visit the Palafitos – floating villages where Afro-Colombian and Indigenous communities live. Continue on to Santa Marta for the night.

Day 4

Cycle about 20km out to Minca – a small town in the foothills of Sierra Nevada, known for its waterfalls and tropical forests. Trade mountain trails for coastal roads in Buritaca. Here, you’ll tube down the Palomino River.

Day 5

Ride up to 60km to Riohacha (shorter distances available), stopping in the small fishing village of Camarones on the way. Join a local guide at Los Flamencos Fauna and Flora Sanctuary before a free afternoon.

Day 6

Pedal alongside the World Bicycle Relief staff and learn how essential these bikes are for people in remote areas. Spend the afternoon hearing inspiring stories and discover all the ways this transport transforms lives.

Day 7–8

The power of a bicycle

How can a bicycle change a life, you ask? Nearly one billion people in rural regions around the world live so far from the nearest paved road that they walk for hours each day just to survive.

World Bicycle Relief’s purpose-built Buffalo Bicycles provide independence and access to vital services – mobilising communities and helping them to thrive with access to education, healthcare and livelihood opportunities.
